We are fundraising to bring diverse poets to Gentle House

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. Whether it’s helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving to causes we care about, every act of generosity counts.

For twentyfive years Tupelo Press has given a home to diverse poetry in our published books. Now, in gratitude for the gift of Gentle House, a 108 year old farmhouse in what is now Port Angeles, on the ancestral homelands of the Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla peoples in the S’Klallam territories, Tupelo Press is raising $6,000 for two full scholarships for BIPOC poets to spend three weeks at Gentle House in the month of July, 2024.

You have the chance to help us broaden the reach of this space. Your donation will help provide transportation, meals, and a stipend to protect time for two poets to explore and write on the Olympic peninsula, and expand their writing connections.

We have received heartfelt feedback from poets who have come for short visits during renovations. We are excited to launch our residencies with our July scholarships and offer dedicated time and support for more diverse voices to join us at Gentle House.

Please visit our website our website to learn more about this exciting opportunity to write in the foothills of the Olympic National Park.

All donations tax deductible through Tupelo Press.
