Emily Writes Poems
Help me meet my goal!
When intrusive thinking disrupts my day, I put away my phone and play word games in my journal. I pick a word, like "cotillion" or "matrimony" or "architecture" and see how many words I can create from the letters in that original word. This month, I will be using those lists as my word banks. Similar to Terrance Hayes's "Gram of &s" exercise, I aim to only use the language in those word banks. Not only will these pieces be playful and sonically cohesive, but they will also represent a part of my anti-anxiety routine, how writing can help resist distress.
Your support gives me inspiration as I write for thirty days this month. 30/30 poems have been taken by over 200 journals and featured in over 40 published chapbooks, all so Tupelo Press can keep publishing exquisite and diverse voices that might never be heard otherwise.
Every dollar gives me confidence to write more, and helps the press place more poems in gorgeous books. Help me to help this distinguished press. Give today!
