Audre Lorde wrote "Poetry is not a luxury. It is a vital necessity of our existence." As a poet and an editor, I know how important independent presses are to sustaining access to poetry from the incredible number of voices currently writing.
This fundraising project both supports my writing--I'll have written 28 poems by the end of the month! That's a lot--and supports Tupelo Press and the community it serves.
Your support gives me vital inspiration as I write for thirty days this month. Essentially, I wake up every morning and start the poem. Then life interrupts, I put the poem to the side and and I return to it later. Every night, I finish the poem. (Well, finish this very early version of the poem!)
Tupelo Press provides the canvas; I bring my words, accompanied by a cohort of fine poets, writing thirty poems in thirty days, all ours to edit and submit as we wish.
