$430 towards $500

Hey everyone, I'm Lane Fields (they/them or he/him). I live in the Boston area with my partner and our cat. I'm currently pursuing my MFA, and while I've been writing poetry for a long time, I haven't always known this was a path I wanted to pursue academically or professionally. One day, a dear friend told me that poetry was my thing, that I had to do something with it. I sat on a decision about my future for five years, and after some waffling and false starts, just before my 30th birthday, I began my MFA.

I am part of the LGBTQ+ community and have always been intellectually and emotionally invested in issues surrounding gender, the body, violence, intimacy, and identity. These themes have been prevalent in my previous academic and activist work, and now they have a home in my poetry.

I'm so thankful for the opportunity to share nascent work with you, and it's my hope we can embark on a journey of discovery and appreciation for poetry together. Tupelo Press's 30/30 is a great space for lovers of the arts and the artists themselves, and I'm so excited to be a part of it.

Thanks for joining me,

Lane

Tupelo Press provides the canvas, I bring my words, accompanied by other fine poets, writing thirty poems in thirty days, all ours to edit and submit as we wish. 30/30 poems have been taken by over 90 journals and featured in over 40 published chapbooks, all so Tupelo Press can keep publishing exquisite and diverse voices that might never be heard otherwise.
