Poet Bio: My career, while apparently zigzag, moving from editing to journalism and art dealing, has always been based around writing, with poetry being either the primary focus or a background theme. Poetry was the chord throughout my undergraduate and graduate careers and beyond. In recent years, I have been a 30/30 participant, 2013, and I have also taken part in, or hosted, Tupelo Conferences with Jeffrey Levine. Last June, I took part in a Truchas conference.

I have been mentored by a number of poets, most notably Denise Levertov.

Poets influencing my writing are many and ever changing. The Celtic element in Yeats was the subject of my graduate thesis. Art is also never far from my thinking. The places I live and have lived surface also crop up in my work: New York City, Egypt, Lebanon, Maine, and California. I sail competitively and love the sea in all its moods. Thus, its weather and the sky are alive for me.

I live in the San Francisco Bay area with my husband and family nearby.

Your support gives me vital inspiration as I write for thirty days this month.

Tupelo Press provides the canvas, I bring my words, accompanied by other fine poets, writing thirty poems in thirty days, all ours to edit and submit as we wish. 30/30 poems have been taken by over 90 journals and featured in over 40 published chapbooks, all so Tupelo Press can keep publishing exquisite and diverse voices that might never be heard otherwise.

Every dollar gives me confidence to write more, and helps the press place more poems in gorgeous books. Help me to help this distinguished press. Give today!
