Poet Statement (11/9/17): So I took on this challenge because I found that my writing habits over the past year have petered out to a trickle. I like to put blame on Trump becoming president, violence in the media, working too much, etc. The blame is on me. Writing has always been a place for me to explore language and surprise myself. I have found, that over the past week, I've been happier, and even my wife, Ari, said last night, "you are really happy today." It's something I haven't heard her say in a while, and the last time I remember being this happy was in grad school where I was writing constantly. Poetry is special to me, and special to many people, even though it's the little brother in publishing. That's why this opportunity is doubly important to me. I get to write and have fun yucking it up with the rest in the 30/30 crew, and I get to help raise money for a press that focuses on poetry. Your donations go straight to publishing more poets and giving them what all poets want. Love. Gratitude. Light.
