Poet Bio: Andrew Rahal received a M.A in Creative Writing from Vanderbilt University and co-founded the Nashville Review. He currently serves as an Assistant Poetry Editor at Narrative Magazine. His poems have been published in Cobalt Review, Danse Macabre, Hawaii Review, Silk Road and elsewhere. He teaches for the Quileute Nation and Peninsula College. He surfs and lives with his wife, cat and dog in Forks, Washington.

Author Statement: I am on summer break from teaching right now. I teach full time for a tribal school as well as nights at the local college and prison in town during the school year. I have been teaching on this schedule the past 4+ years. Gwendolyn Brooks said poetry is life distilled. Needless to say, I have had very few distilled moments for some real productive writing to happen and I have only been quietly publishing since I left grad school. So with all that in mind, I'd take this opportunity to start a new writing project with the close attention and vigor it deserves. I'm going to consider this a stay at home writer's retreat. I also will be applying for PhDs in C/W this fall, so I hope some productive and useful work comes out of this experience.

Your support gives me vital inspiration as I write for thirty days this month.

Tupelo Press provides the canvas, I bring my words, accompanied by other fine poets, writing thirty poems in thirty days, all ours to edit and submit as we wish. 30/30 poems have been taken by over 90 journals and featured in over 40 published chapbooks, all so Tupelo Press can keep publishing exquisite and diverse voices that might never be heard otherwise.

Every dollar gives me confidence to write more, and helps the press place more poems in gorgeous books. Help me to help this distinguished press. Give today!
