According to Jeffrey Lependorf, Executive Director for the Council of Literary Magazines and Presses, "Independent literary publishers produce over 98% of poetry being published each year, and the majority of literature in translation and works of fiction by emerging writers."
As a poet and an educator, I know the importance of enhancing literary diversity and supporting emerging writers in their craft. Without indie presses, so many voices would go unheard, including my own!
I am participating in this important project to both support independent presses like Tupelo, and to strengthen my own writing practice with daily accountability and peer support.
