I’m participating in Tupelo Press’s 30/30 Project as a way to challenge myself creatively while supporting an independent publisher's work to create opportunities for diverse storytellers and provide readers access to new literary voices.
Marginalized communities often feel unseen and undervalued, especially in an industry that has historically overlooked diverse voices. As a Black woman writer, I believe we need stories that reflect a wide range of identities and experiences to ensure literature becomes more honest, inclusive, and meaningful.
This means consistently seeking out, sharing, and championing underrepresented authors while pushing the literary industry to make space for our stories.
