This is the first time I've done fundraising like this, and I'm excited to get the chance to share myself and my process, but more importantly, to help keep projects like Tupelo Press going! The arts have always had the need for funding and support, and being able to donate doesn't just Tupelo Press and their writers- it helps support people like me to keep going, keep creating, and stay willing to share parts of ourselves with each other. People are communal spirits, but we've never been splintered the way that our tech, our culture, and our own fears are driving us to be. It is not good for people to be alone. Helping me, helping any of us, isn't just about keeping the writing supported- it's keeping the fire of art, community, and compassion alive, even to the very end. We need to support each other now more than ever. If nothing else, please, keep reading. Please, give what you feel lead to give- but more importantly, remember to keep making, and be willing to witness others.

Davis Hicks lives in Wake County, North Carolina. A fan of the outdoors, his dog, and not taking himself too seriously, Davis got his BA in English at Samford University before moving to pursue his masters, writing all the while with the loving support of his family, friends, and caring wife Natalie. His work has been published or is upcoming in Wide Angle Literary Journal, Prosetrics Literary Magazine and Trident Poetry Collective, among others. He can be found @davis.drafts on Instagram.

Your support gives me vital inspiration and motivation as I write for thirty days this month.

Tupelo Press provides the canvas; I bring my words, accompanied by a cohort of fine poets, writing thirty poems in thirty days, all ours to edit and submit as we wish. Tupelo Press's independence doesn't just mean they are publishing- it means those voices they raise up are unfiltered, genuine, and able to bring as genuine an account as they can. 30/30 poems have been taken by over 200 journals and featured in over 40 published chapbooks, all so Tupelo Press can keep publishing exquisite and diverse voices that might never be heard otherwise. Every donation gives me confidence to write more, and helps the press place more poems in gorgeous books. Help me to help this distinguished press. Give today!
