Tupelo Press has been vital in my path to becoming a published writer.
Like many poets and authors trying to get their words out there, I struggled to get over that hump. For years, I sent poetry to journals here and there, never hearing back, unsure how to improve my writing.
Because I knew I couldn't get better without help.
I used the mess of 2020 to take classes to improve my writing, which eventually introduced me to Tupelo Press and its workshops. The instruction I received has been paramount in not just improving my writing but building my confidence.
In spring 2023, my first poetry chapbook was published, and in fall 2024, my first novel was published. And Tupelo is, was, and has been an integral step on that path.
I've wanted to participate in 30/30 for years, to say thank you. Right now--a time when the arts are losing vital funding, especially when those arts orgs support of women writers and writers of color--seemed like the exact right time for me to make this commitment.
