HOWDY CATS AND KITTENS, FRIENDS AND STRANGERS!

I’m embarking on a 30-day odyssey to support nonprofit independent publishing

I’m Ian, and I couldn’t be more excited to be supporting Tupelo Press by participating in the 30/30 Project!

Thanks for asking! The 30/30 Project brings multiple poets together every month to rise to the challenge of writing 30 poems in 30 days, with the goal of raising money to allow Tupelo Press to keep publishing new and established writers, and generally supporting indie lit.

Another great question! Independent publishers create the spaces that give new voices a microphone (or a megaphone) to have their words be heard, no matter their backstory. Indie publishers provide established writers intimate and beautiful ways to connect to their audiences. Indie publishers, in short, form the grassroots glue that holds the literature world together. Now, more than ever, that glue is essential.

Of course you can help! Any, and I mean any, contribution helps to support independent literature, and it also gives me the motivation necessary to break thru that satin ribbon on day 30. Just hit that DONATE button and follow the instructions!

Don’t worry, I got you. For any of you loving souls that donate $25 or more, I’ll send you your own copy of any of the pieces I write over the course of the project, typed with my own fingers on the lovely machine pictured below. If you don’t have a preference, I’ll send you one that I especially hold dear. Further, at the end of the project, I’ll be collecting the best work, polishing it, and compiling it all into a chapbook for submission. And y’all will be the first to know how to get your hands on it!

You don’t know who I am?! That’s a fair point. My bio is below!

IAN DOUMIT is a writer based in Wichita, Kansas, by way of Alaska, Texas, and New Mexico. His background is in art history and food safety, and his work has been seen in Marble: A Journal Of The Arts and Dark Poets Club. His poetry attempts to bridge the gap between the tangible, reasonable world of the everyday and the irrational places where souls reside. Or something like that. He can currently be found decluttering his attic on Instagram @andpersend.
