Poet Bio: Sydney Yount has studied with David Wagoner at the Hugo House, and also with Judith Skillman in associative poetry. She attends Bellevue College, taking a poetry class taught by Fernando Perez, studying contemporary African American poets. She has just received her first acceptance to be published in Meat for Tea's next issue; there is word she is very excited.

Author Statement: I have written my way through the good times and the not so good times. Struggles with bipolar manic/depressive disorder taught me from a young age that sometimes the only way to unstick myself is to pick up the pen. Poetry has been a way for my truths, findings, and perspectives to be captured in tangible pictures. This comforts me, while the world seems too far out of reach to put a finger on. Tupelo's 30/30 promises the act of pushing myself to reach into deeper parts of the psyche I might have passed over on my usual leisurely route.

If you like my soul bearings, unedited diamonds in the rough (fingers crossed), or just want to support a great independent press donate! Every dollar counts towards a good cause (and will probably make my day!).

any donation- I will write a poem a topic of your choice

special request: I will send a copy decorated to your house :)

Your support gives me vital inspiration as I write for thirty days this month.

Tupelo Press provides the canvas, I bring my words, accompanied by other fine poets, writing thirty poems in thirty days, all ours to edit and submit as we wish. 30/30 poems have been taken by over 90 journals and featured in over 40 published chapbooks, all so Tupelo Press can keep publishing exquisite and diverse voices that might never be heard otherwise.

Every dollar gives me confidence to write more, and helps the press place more poems in gorgeous books. Help me to help this distinguished press. Give today!
