Poet Bio: James Dargan is a creative artist and authenticity addict from the Southeastern US; he has played the violin and sung since he was very young, and he is also a writer of words and music, as well as a polyglot translator. After studies in poetry and criticism with Geoffrey Hill, Rosanna Warren, and Bonnie Costello, and a brief stint as a university English professor, James decided to focus on singing, and has been privileged to perform and learn from great masters in the US, Europe, the UK, and Canada. When he grows up, James hopes to be able to be a worthy conduit for the power of music, to use his art to speak to the issues of today, and to leave a creative legacy that will speak and sing after he's gone. James lives and works in NYC.

Author Statement: My reasons for volunteering are legion; simply put, ever since studying with Geoffrey Hill (he was my thesis advisor and mentor while I was at BU), I've been held by poetry's capacity to both speak truth and BE truth.

Your support gives me vital inspiration as I write for thirty days this month, and in gratitude for your contributions, I've decided to offer incentives for donations of particular amounts:

$50=an audio recording of a song, sung by me, with piano;

$100=a video recording of a song;

$150=an audio recording of a song of YOUR choice;

$200=a video recording of YOUR choice of song.

Tupelo Press provides the paper, and I--along with other fine poets--bring my words, writing thirty poems in thirty days. 30/30 poems have been taken by over 90 journals and featured in over 40 published chapbooks, and with your help, Tupelo Press can keep publishing exquisite and diverse voices that might never be heard otherwise.

Every dollar gives me confidence to write more, and helps the press place more poems in gorgeous books. Help me to help this distinguished press. Give today!
