Tupelo Press has brought me the work of some of the poets I admire most, including Adélia Prado, Cecilia Woloch, Ilya Kaminsky, Ellen Doré Watson, and Mario Chard. These poets have enriched my life as a teacher, a poet, a mother, a citizen, and a friend. I can only hope to give a little back to this press through this fundraiser.

Your support will not only help the press but will also give me vital inspiration as I write for thirty days this month. My goal is to generate work for a second poetry manuscript focused on my father and his family. I am in the process of submitting my first full-length poetry manuscript, Lodged in the Belly, which addresses the ways broader systems have affected surrender, adoption, custodianship, and motherhood in my family. My poetry has been published in journals including Witness, Crab Orchard Review, Still: the Journal, Stirring, San Pedro River Review, Psaltery & Lyre, Whale Road Review, and elsewhere. I'm also a long-time high school English teacher (27 years and counting), founder of my school's LGBTQ affinity group, and mom--with my wife--to three grown kids.

For this next month, Tupelo Press will provide the canvas; I will bring my words, accompanied by a cohort of fine poets, writing thirty poems in thirty days, all ours to edit and submit as we wish. 30/30 poems have been taken by over 200 journals and featured in over 40 published chapbooks, all so Tupelo Press can keep publishing exquisite and diverse voices that might never be heard otherwise.

Every dollar gives me confidence to write more, and helps the press place more poems in gorgeous books. Help me to help this distinguished press. Give today!
