Hi there! I'm a writer, painter, web developer, and former high school art teacher. I write both nonfiction prose and poetry, and my work explores the connection between the personal and the scientific. How the natural world unfolds around me becomes a conduit for stories about the human experience.

At present, I'm in the research phase for a project about The Laurentide Ice Sheet. This is the ice that covered most of North America during our most recent Ice Age, and in fact, it still exists! A very small chunk of it anyway, in the far north of Canada. This project will ultimately include both written word (essay, poems) and visual art (drawings, prints). I'm interested in both the Laurentide Ice Sheet's existence, how it shifted our continent's topology and geology, and its demise: what does its eventual disappearance (est. 300 years from now) signal for humans? What does it say about our past, present, and future? Please join me on this adventure as I learn about a part of our natural world that has the capacity to affect us all.

Each poem written for this challenge will reflect my research: something learned about glaciology, geology, the history of our planet, predictions for its future, and the human element in all of this. I am so grateful for your support and participation!

Your support gives me vital inspiration as I write for thirty days this month.

Every dollar helps the press place more poems in gorgeous books. Help me to help this distinguished press. Please give today :)
