For the last ninety years I have lived simply in Maryland on the shores of a tributary of the
Chesapeake Bay raising a family, tending to house and garden and events of a small town life.
My youngest daughter, being a creature of the arts accomplished in music in
many forms, dance, painting and other visual arts, and sensing I might want it, asked if we could
write poetry together. She proposed a project of writing a poem of six lines only so that the
foreboding of failing would not stump the creative juices. We did that, but have stopped for a year or so. Now, we are proposing to do it again, as a kind of call and response, thinking this Tupelo project will supply a structure to keep us motivated and a venue via which to share with the world. Thank you Tupelo.
